Joseph M. Stefko, M.D.Dr.Stefko is a fellowship trained Sports Medicine specialist whose practice concentrates on the arthroscopic and reconstructive management of shoulder, elbow and knee disorders.

After graduating with the highest of honors from Ohio University in 1985, Dr. Stefko attended medical school at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.  While in medical school he was elected to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha medical honorary society.  After medical school, Dr.Stefko’s orthopaedic-specific residency education occurred at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) between 1989 and 1994. This was followed by a Sports Medicine fellowship under the direction of Dr. Frank Jobe at the world renowned Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles,  California.  While in California, Dr. Stefko served as an assistant team physician to at least a half dozen of the Los Angeles based professional and college sports teams.

Being a native of Youngstown, stimulated Dr. Stefko to return to the Mahoning Valley.  Currently he serves as president of Youngstown Orthopaedic Associates, LTD. Along with his private practice responsibilities, Dr. Stefko holds an academic position at Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine (NEOUCOM) as an Assistant Clinical Professor.  Dr.Stefko continues to volunteer his time and expertise as an orthopaedic team physician to many of the local school districts.

Dr. Stefko is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.  He is a member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA), American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery (AAOS), and many other professional organizations.
